  • A video showing Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wearing masks in a hospital-like setting is being shared on social media, where some users shared it to insinuate that it shows them meeting the victims of the New Delhi Railway Station stampede which happened on 15 February. (Archived versions of more claims can be seen here and here.) But...?: The claim is false. The video shows them at a relief camp, meeting people impacted by landslides in Kerala's Wayanad in August 2024. How did we find out the truth?: We ran a reverse image search on the video using Google Lens, which led us to a YouTube video shared on 3 August 2024. The video mentioned that it showed Rahul and Priyanka in Kerala's Wayanad. The same video was also shared by the All India Congress Committee's national secretary on 2 August 2024. Heavy rain triggered landslides in parts of the district on 31 July 2024, claiming over 300 lives as roads and houses were either washed away or buried. Taking a cue from the YouTube video, we ran a keyword search using the term 'Rahul Priyanka meet Wayanad landslide victims', which led us to several news reports showing the two visiting relief camps, including this video by Hindustan Times. They showed Priyanka in the same outfit as the one she is seen in, in the claim. Both Congress leaders also shared videos of them addressing people and the media during their visit on their official X accounts on 1 August 2024. More on the recent stampede: At least 18 people lost their lives during a stampede on platforms 14 and 15 at the New Delhi Railway Station, which happened late at night on Saturday, 15 February, after passengers waiting for two delayed trains and one oncoming train gathered on the two platforms. Outgoing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi visited those injured in the mishap at Delhi LNJP hospital a few hours after the incident. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva, too, met with those injured in the stampede. Rahul shared a statement expressing his condolences to those who lost their lives, calling the stampede "extremely sad and distressing." Conclusion: An old video showing Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra meeting survivors of the Wayanad landslide in August 2024 is being falsely linked to the recent stampede at the New Delhi Railway Station.
