| - An image showing British-Albanian singer and model Dua Lipa walking in Jaipur with a claim that she faced sexual harassment is being shared with several extrapolated remarks on social media.
The Twitter message posted on Dec. 27, 2023, also added a caption that read: “India remains most dangerous country for women. Singer was sexually harassed by some men in Jaipur Rajasthan. Locals had to escort her to safety.” The image shows Dua Lipa walking on the street in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

FACT CHECK
When the Digiteye India team found the image with no movement around her while walking, we took it up for Google Reverse Image Search and found that the pictures were uploaded by the singer as a part of her trip to India for Christmas 2023 and New Year holidays. The images have been picked up by several news outlets, and The Hindu has carried a news item that said locals did not even recognise her. As such, Jaipur usually gets more than three thousand foreign visitors.
We have searched Google News for any such report of harassment but found none. When looked for the original claim, we found that the collage was originally shared by the RVCJ Media Facebook account on Dec. 27, but the caption reads: “Dua Lipa is casually roaming around the streets of Jodhpur & no one is recognizing her.” It doesn’t speak of any harassment, as claimed in the Twitter post. Throughout her trip, the singer shared her vacation photos on Instagram as well.
Dua Lipa shared multiple photographs from India on her official Instagram account with a caption reading “Happy Holidays from me to youuuuu❤️ sending love light health and happiness for the year ahead x.”
Instead, the media was highlighting the fact that no unusual interest or enthusiasm was shown by locals when she was visiting the monuments. The Free Press Journal, featured the video in an article with the title “Locals Fail To Recognise Dua Lipa As She Takes A Stroll On Streets Of Jodhpur.”

Hence, the images of Dua Lipa with a false claim are making the rounds on social media.
Claim: India remains the most dangerous country for women. Singer Dua Lipa was sexually harassed by some men in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Locals had to escort her to safety.
Conclusion: False, the image was superimposed with a caption that was FALSE. The singer was never harassed on the streets of Jodhpur during her trip.
