  • Fact Check: Digitally morphed screenshot of Priyanka Gandhi's tweet about Nehru goes viral According to the AFWA investigation, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's tweet is not only old but the text in the screenshot has also been digitally altered. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This screenshot was digitally altered. In the viral photo, the phrase “slept on an adjacent chair” from Vadra’s 2019 tweet was replaced with “went to his room to sleep with his wife”. A screenshot of a tweet by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is going viral on social media. The alleged tweet reads, “My favourite story about my great-grandfather is the one about when, as PM, he returned from work at 3 am to find his bodyguard exhausted and asleep on his bed. He covered him with a blanket and went to his room to sleep with his wife.” The screenshot also contained a Facebook comment that asked: “Kamala died in 1936 he became PM in 1947 so with whose wife did he sleep?” Others also raised similar questions along with the screenshot of the tweet. AFWA’s investigation found that not only is the tweet in the screenshot old, the text in the screenshot has been digitally manipulated. AFWA Probe We searched for Vadra’s Twitter account with keywords from the viral screenshot. We came across a tweet from November 14, 2019, that looked very similar to the viral one. November 14 is Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary. Vadra’s tweet read, “My favourite story about my great-grandfather is the one about when as PM, he returned from work at 3 am to find his bodyguard exhausted and asleep on his bed. He covered him with a blanket and slept on an adjacent chair.” The tweet is identical to the viral screenshot except for the last line.
