| - Fact Check: CM Atishi Did Not Post This About Kejriwal’s Tihar Days, Viral Tweet Originated from Parody Account

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A viral X post, falsely attributed to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena, claims that former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was sexually assaulted in Tihar Jail. The post, which includes a profile picture of Atishi, is being widely shared on social media, with users mocking Kejriwal.
Vishvas News’ investigation found that the viral claim is false. The viral post is not real but has been made from a parody account and is being shared widely with false claims.
What is going viral?
On November 13, 2024, Facebook user ‘Bhaskar Bhattacharjee‘ shared the viral post with the caption, “The people of Delhi will respond to the atrocities and sexual abuse of Kejriwal ji in Tihar Jail by defeating BJP.”
Investigation
To verify the authenticity of the viral claim, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords but we could not find any credible news report supporting the claim that CM Atishi has posted it.
Taking the investigation further, we also reviewed Atishi’s official X account. We did not find any such post there either. Then we looked closely at the viral post and found that in the intro @atishi_maarlena was mentioned, whereas CM Atishi’s official X account’s username is @AtishiAAP. We started searching for the account named @atishi_maarlena, as mentioned in the viral post.
Upon investigation, the account named @atishi_maarlena was found to be a parody account impersonating CM Atishi. The post was shared from this account on November 12, 2024. It is written in the bio of the account that this is a parody account. These tweets are only for entertainment and satire and are not affiliated with anyone. This is a fan account of Atishi.
For more information, we contacted VK Shukla, a journalist covering Aam Aadmi Party-related news for Dainik Jagran, who confirmed that the viral claim is false and CM Atishi has not posted anything like this.
Finally, we scanned the Facebook account of the user who shared the viral post and discovered that the user resides in Assam and has 6000 followers.
Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that CM Atishi’s post regarding the sexual harassment of Kejriwal is false. The viral post is fake and originates from a parody account.
