New Delhi (Vishvas News). The Maha Kumbh Mela is set to begin on January 13, 2025, in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and will run until February 26, 2025. Meanwhile, a video of a drone show is being shared on social media, with users claiming it showcases the upcoming drone show to be held in Prayagraj Maha Kumbh.
Vishvas News investigated and found the viral claim to be false. The video is not from Prayagraj Mahakumbh but from Texas in the USA. A company named Sky Elements Drone organised this show for Christmas. The same video is now being falsely linked to Mahakumbh Mela 2025. The video has no connection with India.
What is the viral post?
On January 4, 2025, Facebook user Rinku Meena Nangal shared the video with the caption, “Preparation for the grand drone show to be held at Prayagraj Mahakumbh…. #mahakumbh2025”

Investigation
We began by conducting a Google search using relevant keywords and came across a news report on Dainik Jagran’s website. The news published on December 29, 2024, stated, “For the first time in this year’s Kumbh Mela, Uttar Pradesh Tourism will organise a drone show. In this show to be held at Sangam Nose, about 2000 lightning drones will showcase the greatness of Prayag and the mythological stories of Maha Kumbh.”
Taking the investigation forward, we extracted several keyframes of the viral video using the Invid tool and conducted a Google reverse image. We found the viral video on the official YouTube channel of ‘FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth’, uploaded on December 17, 2024. According to the information provided, this is a video of a drone show held in Texas.
We also found the viral video on the official YouTube channel of Guinness World Records, uploaded on December 10, 2024. The video is reported to be from a drone show organised for Christmas in Texas.
We found the viral video shared on the YouTube channel and Instagram handle of Sky Elements Drone Shows in December 2024.
According to several news reports published in December 2024, drone show company Sky Elements set a new Guinness World Record with a drone show on Christmas Eve.
We shared the video with Rakesh Pandey, editorial in-charge of Dainik Jagran, Prayagraj and he confirmed that the viral video has no connection with the Kumbh Mela. The video is not from India. While preparations for the Maha Kumbh are underway, no such video has surfaced.
Finally, we scanned the profile of the user who shared the post and found that the user has over one lakh Facebook followers.
Earlier also a video related to the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh went viral, which was found to be fake in our investigation. The fact-check report can be read here.
Conclusion: A video of a drone show is going viral with claims linking it to the Prayagraj Mahakumbh. However, Vishvas News’ investigation found the claim to be misleading. This video is of a drone show held on Christmas in Texas, which is now being falsely linked to the Prayagraj Mahakumbh.
