  • FACT CHECK: Are Nancy And Paul Pelosi Refusing To Hand Over Surveillance Video Of Their Home? A post shared on Instagram purports Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her husband Paul are withholding surveillance video from police following a recent attack that occurred at their San Francisco residence. View this post on Instagram Verdict: False A spokesperson for the San Francisco Police Department said authorities have been met with “full cooperation” from the family. Capitol Police are also allowed to monitor the feed from Pelosi’s home. Fact Check: David DePape was charged with assault and attempted kidnapping by federal prosecutors in relation to a Friday incident involving Paul Pelosi, the Wall Street Journal reported. DePape allegedly broke into Pelosi’s San Francisco home and violently assaulted Paul Pelosi with a hammer, Politico reported. The Instagram post purports the Pelosi family is not sharing their home surveillance footage with police over claims Paul Pelosi was allegedly engaged in “gay sex” with his attacker. “David Depape tells investigators that he and Paul Pelosi were engaging in gay sex and an argument ensued over drugs,” the post reads in part, further stating DePape had arrests for prostitution. The claim is false. There are no credible news reports suggesting the Pelosis have withheld their home surveillance footage from police. The San Francisco Police Department has also not publicly commented on the purported claim. “Since the inception of this incident investigators have been gathering evidence related to the attack,” a San Francisco Police Department spokesperson told Check Your Fact via email. “There is no stone our investigators will leave unturned, which includes but not limited to surveillance footage. We have only been met with full cooperation from the victim’s family for this attack.” Claims that Paul Pelosi knew his alleged attacker, DePape, and that the pair were gay lovers circulated online after the incident, according to CNN. San Francisco Police chief William Scott said there is “absolutely no evidence” the pair knew each other. Capitol Police are reviewing the incident that took place at Pelosi’s home, Politico reported. The agency also has a command center that allows them to monitor the security camera feed inside the Pelosi’s home, the outlet reported, citing an anonymous source with knowledge of the matter.
