Fact Check
Will Disease X be leaked in 2025?
No. There is no evidence to confirm that Disease X will be leaked in 2025. The claimed People’s Voice article references a story published by The Mirror to support its claim that Disease X is anticipated to appear in 2025. However, The Mirror’s report, dated January 13, 2024, does not substantiate such a claim.
The World Health Organization (WHO) uses the term Disease X to talk about a possible future pandemic caused by a germ that we don’t know about yet and isn’t making people sick right now. It includes any mystery germ that could cause a big worldwide outbreak.
Recently, the World Economic Forum organized a panel discussion titled ‘Preparing for Disease X’. The talk was arranged to discuss if Disease X appears in future then how to prepare for it. As of now, Disease X is not a sickness we know about now. We cannot say when, what kind of sickness it would be, how bad it might be, or how it would spread to people.
But this discussion has led to a lot of misinformation on social media. THIP MEDIA has been actively involved in debunking these false claims. In another fact-check, this discussion has been cited to assert that Disease X is 20 times more fatal than COVID-19.
Now, in this story, we are debunking a claim made by The People’s Voice website. In our other fact-check stories, we have shown that The People’s Voice website is known for sharing articles that spread misinformation. For instance, they falsely claimed the Dutch were killing people without their consent. Another time, they wrongly asserted that Pope Francis supported euthanasia. As we looked into more of their stories, we found that many lacked any evidence.
