Authorities took stringent steps to make the Maha Kumbh experience better. A day after people were stranded in traffic jam for more than 30 hours at several places, the authorities declared the entire Maha Kumbh area as a ‘No Vehicle Zone’. Thousands of devotees were stuck in massive traffic jams ahead of Magh Purnima. The entire mela area has been declared a ‘no vehicle zone’ effective from February 11 at 4 am to ensure the holy dip by devotees passes off smoothly.
Meanwhile, a video is in circulation on social media showing a huge crowd seen in an open ground throwing slippers at the army officials and other security personnel, standing behind a barricade. People can be seen pushing each other. Some users shared the video with the claim that it shows the crowd in the Maha Kumbh mela, who are misbehaving with the Army personnel who were guarding them. The users shared this claim with the comment that the if the people throwing the slippers were Muslims, this would be in the news on all the government media channels today, but people of this religion are probably allowed to do all this. The claim in Hindi goes as “कुंभ में राष्ट्रवादी और सनातनी लोगों ने आर्मी वालों पर चप्पलें फेंकी! ये मुसलमान होते तो आज सभी सरकारी मीडिया चैनलों पर यही खबर होती , लेकिन इस धर्म के लोगों को ये सब अलाउड है शायद। #KumbhMela2025”

The claim is False. The video is an old one and is not related to Maha Kumbh Mela.
When we extracted keyframes from the video and searched them using Google reverse image search, we found that this video was shared by an Instagram user on January 29, 2025. The text on the video states “Pushpa 2 ke trailer launch ke din patna ke Gandhi maidan me public kar diya hangama”. When translated it states “Patna public creates havoc on the occasion of the trailer launch of Pushpa 2 in Gandhi maidan”
Upon further search, we found a longer video published on YouTube by a channel named Showsha with the title “Pushpa 2: Fans In Patna Create Chaos, Climb Electric Poles; Police Resort To Lathi Charge”.
According to an article published in Times of India, chaos erupted in Patna's historic Gandhi Maidan on Sunday, where a massive crowd turned up to catch a glimpse of actors Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandana who were in the city for the trailer launch event of their upcoming film 'Pushpa 2'. A section of the people who gathered at the venue crossed barricades and hurled shoes and sleepers when they were prevented from going close to the stars. The event will continue till late night.
Therefore, the viral video does not show crowd at Maha Kumbh Mela misbehaving with the security and police personnel. It shows a crowd at the trailer launch of Pushpa 2 movie that took place in January 2025 in Gandhi Maidan, Patna. The claim is False.
