India Today Fact Check
This is an old video from Andhra Pradesh.
Following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in the Rajasthan Assembly elections, a video of a freight train carrying bulldozers has gone viral on social media. Text superimposed on the video reads, “Train from UP to Rajasthan.”
An Instagram user shared this video with the caption, “Baba Balak Nath’s bulldozer in Rajasthan.” Mahant Balaknath is a BJP leader and MLA from Rajasthan. The archived version of this post can be seen here.
India Today found that the video in question is at least two years old and was filmed near Andhra Pradesh’s Tenali Junction railway station.
Our Probe
A reverse search of the viral video’s keyframes led us to its longer version on a YouTube channel called “GopiRailworld”, shared on November 26, 2021. The viral clip’s visuals can be seen around the three-minute mark.
According to the video’s description, it was filmed at the Tenali Junction Railway Station of Andhra Pradesh.
We then looked at other videos filmed at Tenali Junction railway station. One such video uploaded to the “Only In India” YouTube channel shows a similar location as seen in the viral video.
This place is also clearly visible in the Google Street View.
Thus, it’s clear that an old video from Andhra Pradesh showing a train transporting bulldozers is being falsely peddled in the backdrop of the recent Rajasthan Assembly elections.
