Dirar Khattab Monday 04th February 2019 A photo of the governor of the Turkish province of Hatay, accompanied by a group of Turkish-Syrian teachers, spread on social media. The publishers of the picture said that it was taken in the city of Afrin. The people or pages who posted this photo reported that it was taken in front of the Afrin school after the governor of the Turkish province of Hatay changed its name to become the "Imam Khatib" school and added that the Turkish language would be an official language for teaching in schools. After a Verify-Sy search of the photo, it was found that the governor of the Turkish province of Hatay gathered Syrian Turkish language teachers after they received a training course at the "Pasha Karaca Imam and Khatib" school, in front of which the photo was taken in the Turkish province of Hatay, and not in Afrin. It is worth mentioning that the governor of the Turkish province of Hatay, Rahmi Dogan, had visited the health, education and security services in the city of Afrin in the northern countryside of Aleppo late last year, and no changes were made to the names of the schools during his visit, nor did he impose the Turkish language as an official language of instruction in schools. Turkish is taught as a second language in some schools alongside Kurdish and English. In contrast, the curriculums are taught in Arabic as the primary learning language in Afrin schools.
