  • FACT CHECK: Was Marjorie Taylor Greene Wearing A Wire During Her April 22 Testimony? An image shared on Facebook claims to show Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wearing an earpiece during recent court testimony. Verdict: False There is no earpiece or wire visible in the original footage of the congresswoman’s testimony. A spokesperson for Greene denied the claim that she wore an earpiece. Fact Check: Greene testified in an Atlanta court April 22 in defense of comments she made prior to the January 6 Capitol Hill riots, according to NPR. Her testimony was in response to a pro-democracy non-profit, called “Free Speech For People,” which is seeking to disqualify Greene from reelection for her alleged support and encouragement of the rioters, the outlet reported. The Facebook image appears to show Greene fixing her hair, revealing an earpiece that may have fallen out of place. “Earpiece at her armpit, got suck (sic) in her hair. See?” reads text included in the image. The claim is unsupported. The scene in question can be viewed in a video clip of Greene’s testimony found on C-SPAN that shows the congresswoman fixing her hair. Notably, there is no earpiece visible in her hair. A collection of photos captured by Getty Images of Greene’s testimony likewise show no signs of an earpiece. The Facebook image appears to be altered in a way that makes it seem as if a thick strand of her hair is actually an earpiece. (RELATED: Did Marjorie Taylor Greene Say This Quote About Electricity?) “This is just another ridiculous conspiracy theory,” Nick Dyer, a spokesperson for Greene, told Check Your Fact via email. This is not the first time a public official has been accused of wearing a wire. Check Your Fact previously debunked claims that President Joe Biden was wearing a wire during the first 2020 presidential debate.
