  • Video showing stormy clouds near coastal area, is not from Machilipatnam or Penumaka or of Asani cyclone There was a couple of videos being shared widely in the social media from the users in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and neighboring states, showing story clouds hovering over a beach, due to a depression in weather. Claim: As Cyclone Asani recently hit land between Machilipatnam and Narsapuram, many users shared those videos and images as the 'Power of Nature' at Machilipatnam. Those same videos were shared by some others as from Penumaka in the Guntur district. The news channels also broadcasted the video claiming that it was shot at Machilipatnam. Fact Check: When TeluguPost started to fact check the claims with reverse image search using frames of the videos, similar videos that were uploaded to internet long ago were found. Some internet user shared video made with a screen shot of the video, as 'Eye of Cyclone Shaheen at Sea of Oman' on October 2, 2021. A video was shared by 'Vizag Vision' on YouTube on June 18, 2021 as 'Bheemili Beach Cool Weather | Clouds Touching Waves | Visakhapatnam by Vizag Vision' while another user of Instagram, Andhra Pradesh Weatherman, shared it as the 'Kalingapatnam Beach, Srikakulam' on June 17, 2021. Meanwhile, the weather at Visakhapatnam or Kalingapatnam on June 17 and 18, 2021 is not much cloudy to believe that the video is from those places. The original location is not found. Claim: Stormy clouds hover on Machilipatnam due to Cyclone Asani Claimed by: Social Media users Fact Check Result: The claim is FALSE, as same videos are available on internet for nearly a year.
