Though thousands of farmers are presently camping at the Delhi border, this particular picture was taken in 2018 when farmers in Maharashtra were marching towards Mumbai to gherao the state legislature.
Several pictures of the ongoing farmers' agitation at the Delhi-Haryana border have flooded social media, evoking mixed responses. Amid these, an image of a mass gathering is circulating with the claim that these are the protesting farmers camping outside Delhi, facing inclement weather conditions.
Many Facebook users have posted the picture showing a massive number of people gathered on a road at night.
The caption in Hindi says these are the protesting farmers waiting under the open sky near the Delhi border, bracing the harsh weather. If they lose their patience, they can flood Delhi and nobody will be able to stop them, the post says.
But though thousands of farmers are presently camping at the Delhi border, India Today Anti-Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found that this particular picture was taken in 2018 when farmers in Maharashtra were marching towards Mumbai to gherao the state legislature.

The viral picture
We noticed that the viral picture has the watermark of "mumbailive.com". Using reverse image search, we found that the Twitter handle of news website "Mumbai Live" had posted this image on March 10, 2018.
According to the tweet, about 25,000 farmers had gathered at the Eastern Express Highway, opposite Viviana Mall in Thane. These farmers were marching towards Mumbai against the government's "anti-farmer" policies.

The same picture was also published by The Indian Express on March 11, 2018. As per this news report, the farmers' "long march" heading towards Mumbai was then supported by political parties such as Shiv Sena, MNS and AAP.
The same image was also tweeted by Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI(M) on March 11, 2018.
Hence, it can be concluded that though the farmers' agitation at the Delhi-Haryana border has elicited huge response on and off social media, this particular viral image is nearly three years old and from Maharashtra.
