  • Fact Check: Viral Video Of Earthquake Is From Turkey, Not Delhi-NCR The video circulating with the false claims of being from the Delhi-NCR on February 17, 2025, is from Turkey. It was filmed during the earthquake that struck Turkey in February 2023. Some people are now sharing the same video, misattributing it to India. Following this, a video is going viral across various social media platforms, featuring a broken road on a highway and a scene of devastation. Some users are claiming that this video is recent and linked to the Delhi-NCR earthquake. Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the viral video has no connection to the Delhi-NCR earthquake. The footage is from the earthquake that struck Turkey in 2023 and is now being shared with a false claim linking it to Delhi. What is in the viral post? Facebook user ‘Dinesh Saini’ posted the video (archive link) on February 18, 2025, with the caption, “Earthquake in Delhi” The video is captioned as: “Earthquake tremors in Delhi NCR”. Many social media users have shared this video with similar claims. Investigation To verify the viral video, we captured multiple screenshots and searched them using Google Lens. This led us to a news report on Zee News’ website, published on February 12, 2023, which identified the footage as showing a highway in Turkey. Additionally, we found a related report on the official YouTube channel of India TV, uploaded on February 13, 2023. According to the information provided, the earthquake in Turkey has caused devastation all around, including extensive damage to the roads. We also found the viral video on a YouTube channel named ‘@lacachuchasv5886’, uploaded on February 8, 2023, and is said to be from Turkey. During our investigation, we found the same video on several Facebook pages. In posts uploaded on February 12, 2023, the video was also attributed to Turkey. Other reports related to the viral video can be seen here. We shared the video with VK Shukla, Dainik Jagran’s chief correspondent in Delhi, who confirmed that the video is not from Delhi-NCR. Another video regarding the earthquake in Delhi-NCR has also gone viral. Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that this video is from Pakistan. You can read the fact-check report on it here. Finally, we scanned the Facebook profile of the user who shared the video and found that the user described himself as a resident of Dausa, Rajasthan and has around five thousand followers. Conclusion: The video circulating with the false claims of being from the Delhi-NCR on February 17, 2025, is from Turkey. It was filmed during the earthquake that struck Turkey in February 2023. Some people are now sharing the same video, misattributing it to India.
