The context is hiring advertisement of Tesla in India following PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the US, where he met Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the news related to the Indian government’s move to slash import duty from 110% to 15% on EV car imports.

When Digiteye India received the request for a fact-check, the team first checked for authenticity by taking key frames of the video and conducting Google Reverse Image Search. The results showed that the video was an old one from 2023 when Tesla’s Pune factory showcased the Tesla Model 3 on Indian roads. See the original Twitter post dated August 18, 2023 here:

Prior to it, in 2021 similar posts were shared here and here.
Further search on official website of Tesla did not reveal any details though news is fast spreading about the imminent entry of Tesla into the Indian market following the drastic reduction of import duty on EV cars. Since, the Indian government has not officially notified such reduction or any relevant information so far, it cannot be surmised that Tesla is entering the Indian market with its Model 3.
Hence, the claim is misleading.

Conclusion: Misleading. The video of Tesla Model 3 car was from 2023 and not now.
