The post showing an image of Rooh Afza’s bottle claims that there is a ban on hiring non-Muslims in Hamdard company and the company does not employ people of any other religion. Vishvas News investigated and found the claim to be fake. Hamdard Company does not hire people on the basis of any particular religion. People of all religions work in the company. Claim Facebook user ‘Jago Hindustani’ shared a post on March 15, in which two bottles of Ruhafza are shown. The post claims: “You must have seen the video of spitting on roti, now summer is here, so understand the truth. There is a ban on hiring non-Muslims in Hamdard Company.” See the archived version of the post here. Investigation We searched on Google using appropriate keywords related to the viral post but did not find any related report. Hamdard is a known brand and if the viral post was true, it would have been covered by media organizations. We did not find any report on Hamdard‘s official website that gave us any clue regarding the authenticity of the claim. We found the names of four non-Muslim employees in the list of nine people of the leadership team mentioned on its website. This proved that the viral claim is baseless. Non-Muslims do work there. Vishvas News contacted Farooq Sheikh, deputy manager of Hamdard’s Human Resource Department, and discussed the viral post. He told us that this claim is baseless. He also shared some names of employees who are non-Muslims. We scanned the Facebook page ‘Jago Hindustani’ that shared the fake post. We found the page has 94,372 followers. Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found the claim to be fake. Hamdard Company does not hire people on the basis of any particular religion.
