On July 3, heavy rainfall here resulted in a landslide that swept away several houses and vehicles, killing two people and leaving several missing. The archived versions of the viral posts are saved here and here. AFWA investigation Many social media users raised doubts about the authenticity of the viral claim. Some said the video was from Japan. Taking this as a cue, we searched the Internet with the help of keywords, and found that the video is from July 3. Several mainstream news websites also published the video, claiming that the frightening visuals were captured during a landslide at Atami city in Japan. #BREAKING: There are fears for at least 19 people currently missing after a mudslide hit homes in Atami, Japan, west of Tokyo.
