  • On June 7, 2024, a video posted to X allegedly showed former U.S. President Donald Trump saying, "If we wanna make America great, we've got to make antisemitism great again." As of this writing, the post has reached more than 148,000 views, 2,200 likes and 800 shares. (X user @TheOfficial1984) The post's description read: "If we want to make America great, we've got to make antisemitism great again!" Now that's a message I can get behind! God bless Donald J. Trump! "They gonna put Trump in jail just for making this speech," one X user commented. Another, however, noted "This is fake. Look at the neck folks." In short, because the video was created using AI software, we have rated this claim as "Fake." The viral footage had numerous signs of being generated by AI, including an unnatural movement of Trump's lips. A fabricated news ticker visible in the video read "TRUMP SAYS MAKE ANTISEMITISM GREAT AGAIN," and the AI-generated voice in the video uttered the below statements: Quite frankly, the amount of Holocaust deniers today is astounding. I mean, wooden door aside, I just found out it would have taken 45 years to cremate all those bodies if it really was 6 million. You know what else? Oct. 7 is fake news. I mean, to believe that a bunch of dudes on flying lawnmowers and pickup trucks somehow went unnoticed for seven hours by one of the leading intelligence communities in the world is just absurd. It's so obvious that Israel killed the majority of those people. … But the Jews are masters of propaganda and if you think they aren't capable of lying about Oct. 7 just look at how much money they made off the Holocaust. Mark my words, antisemites are gonna be the ones that save this country. Call me crazy, but it's the truth. Bottom line is, if we wanna make America great, we've got to make antisemitism great again. These remarks were entirely fabricated and had no basis in reality. No reputable news outlets have reported on such controversial statements allegedly made by Trump. What's more, using Google reverse image search, we discovered that the video was likely created with a template using footage of Trump wearing a striped blue tie. Similar deepfake videos, featuring absurd statements never made by Trump — such as him "admitting to being a goblin" — have circulated online. In February 2024, we debunked deepfake video that went viral in 2023 and 2024, showing Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy performing a belly dance. In November 2023, we investigated deepfake videos allegedly showing climate activist Greta Thunberg calling for a ban on vibrators. You can learn more about how to spot deepfake videos here.
