  • Fact Check: Video shows Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Gujarat, NOT Congress rally India Today Fact Check found that the video is from Gujarat's Godhra and shows a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This video is from Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Gujarat’s Godhra. A day before Telangana goes to polls, a video of a lively crowd dancing to a DJ on the road began making the rounds on social media. Allegedly, this was an election campaign organised by the Congress party in the state. The video's backdrop includes an election song for Telangana's Congress leader and Member of Parliament, Revanth Reddy. “Rallies by Congress are better than major music performers performing live!!! #TelanganaElections2023,” reads the text along with one such video. The video was also shared by an unverified Instagram account in the name of Revanth Reddy, which has more than 33,000 followers. The archived version of such posts can be seen here and here. India Today found that the video in question is from a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration in Gujarat’s Godhra. The audio in the clip was changed. Our Probe Upon conducting a reverse search using the video's keyframes and relevant keywords, we found an identical video of better quality with a different song playing in the background, posted on an Instagram page named "DJ Hiiren" on September 19. It was shared with hashtags like “Godhra City” and “Godhra Ganesh Festival”. This date aligns with Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations observed between September 18 and 28 this year. In this video, we observed “Guru Kripa” written in Gujarati on one of the shops. Additionally, in a different frame of the same video, a huge idol of Ganesha was also visible. This page also featured numerous other videos and photos from the same location. We then searched for “Guru Kripa'' in Godhra, a municipality in Gujarat, and found the Google Street View of the same road. As per Google Maps, the street in the video is Panjarapole Road in Godhra, Gujarat. It is, thus, clear that the video does not show the Congress party’s election campaign in Telangana.
