What we found: We searched the keywords related to this news on Google.
We found a report from Bangladesh news website Somoy News, which stated that the Chaigaon Metropolitan Police had denied reports that the deceased Islam was Das's lawyer.
According to a report published in Dhaka Tribune, Bangladesh government organisation CA Press Wing has also termed these news and claims as "false."
We checked the official Facebook page CA Press Wing Facts in which these claims were refuted and the name of Das's lawyer was revealed.
It read, "Some Indian media are claiming that Advocate Saiful Islam Alif, who was brutally murdered in Chittagong today, was representing Chinmoy Krishna Das. This claim is false and is being spread with malicious intent. The vokalatnama submitted by Chinmoy Krishna Das in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court shows that Advocate . We request everyone to refrain from any inflammatory, false reports." (sic.)
Along with this, CA Press Wing presented a vokalatnama, a legal document, according to which the name of Das' lawyer was
We have also contacted lawyer Subhashish Sharma to confirm the matter, this report will be updated once we receive his response.
Conclusion: A false claim has gone viral that lawyer Saiful Islam, who was killed in the recent violence in Bangladesh, was the lawyer of ISCKON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das.
