  • After the formation of Congress government in Karnataka, several claims have been seen on social media alleging revival of anti-Hindu practices in the state and one such claim is going viral of a cow being slaughtered violently in the public. Khan-Grace’s victory in Karnataka is celebrated by slaughtering a cow on top of the BJP flag@Nation_is1st @Sanjay_Dixit @BJP4India pic.twitter.com/MnBnKnm08d — Siddharth (@siddhar_94250) May 17, 2023 The 29-second clip on Twitter was uploaded on May 17, 2023, a week after the new government took over in Karnataka. The graphic video shows a cow, revered by Hindus, being slaughtered with its throat slit open, gasping for life and bleeding. The cpation reads: “The #Khan-Grace victory in #Karnataka is celebrated by #slaughtering a #Cow on the #BJP flag. Real Indians? #KarnatakaElectionResults.” Here, Khan efers to Muslims while Grace refers to Christians, who had purportedly voted for the Congress in assembly elections held on May 10, 2023. It has been shared here and here. FACT CHECK A simple search on Google Reverse Image Search online showed that the video was an old one shared on Twitter on Jan 31, 2022 and has nothing to do with the Congress win in Karnataka state. — N.Biren Singh (@NBirenSingh) February 1, 2022 The video pertains to cow slaughter in Manipur and even state Chief Minister Biren Singh responded to it the next day on Feb 1, 2022. The local media reported as seen in the tweet above that three persons were allegedly involved in the slaughtering of a cow, and were arrested by the Lilong police. They were protesting the denial of BJP tickets by some hopefuls during the Manipur Assembly elections. Even the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) responded to the incident as below: Lilong police have arrested three accused and registered an FIR under sections153A, 429, 504 of the IPC and Section 11(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. — PETA India (@PetaIndia) February 1, 2022 Hence, the video has no relevance with Karnataka and is totally False. Claim: Khan-Grace’s victory in Karnataka is celebrated by slaughtering a cow on top of the BJP flag Conclusion: Old Manipur video depicts cow-slaughter as protest against denial of BJP ticket in elections Rating: Totally False — Pingback: Old Manipur cow-slaughtering video surfaces as in Karnataka after Congress win in Assembly elections; Fact Check- Digiteye - farzi khabar
