During this period, several claims went viral, associating unrelated events with the Maha Kumbh. One such video, showing fireworks, has been circulating widely on social media, with some users claiming it to be from the Maha Kumbh. Vishvas News investigations revealed that the video in question is not from Maha Kumbh. It is from a laser show and fireworks held during Dev Diwali in Varanasi. What is going viral? Facebook page Bhakti Bhakti shared the viral video on February 26, 2025 and wrote, “Divine, grand, wonderful, unique, happy ending of Maha Kumbh….”. The archive link of the post can be seen here. Investigation To investigate the viral clip, we first extracted several key frames from it and searched them using Google Lens tool. We found a similar video on the official Facebook page of Moneycontrol Hindi. According to the information given with the video uploaded on November 15, 2024, the clip is of fireworks done on the occasion of Dev Diwali celebrations at Lalita Ghat in Varanasi. We also found the viral video on the x handle of NavBharat Live. it was shared on November 16, 2024. According to the information given, it is from the show held on the night of Dev Diwali at Lalita Ghat in Varanasi. We found a clip related to the viral video on the verified Facebook page of Good News Today as well. In a post made on November 15, 2024, the video is described as a laser show and fireworks held during the Dev Diwali celebrations at Lalita Ghat in Varanasi. The viral video was shared by numerous Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube channels in November 2024, with claims that it depicts the Dev Diwali celebrations in Varanasi. We shared the video with Rakesh Pandey, editorial in-charge of Dainik Jagran, Prayagraj. He informed that the video is not from Maha Kumbh. Finally, we scanned the profile of the user who shared the video. The user has about 3 thousand friends on Facebook. The user has described himself as a resident of Ujjain. Conclusion: A viral video showing fireworks was mistakenly linked to the Maha Kumbh, but investigations by Vishvas News revealed it was actually from the Dev Diwali celebrations in Varanasi.
