Fact :The screenshot is a hoax. The article was not published in Disha epaper. It is fake
Telugu Desam Party has opted out from the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana leaving parties like Bharat Rashtra Samithi and Congress in tight contest. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested by CID for an alleged corruption case in September 2023, he was in judicial remand till October end and then got interim bail to get himself treated for some health issues. After his bail, there has been news of leaders like Revanth Reddy meeting him at midnight.
A screenshot of a news story from Disha epaper is in circulation on social media with the headline ‘Revanth Reddy meets Chandrababu Naidu at midnight and that they discussed about Telangana merger’.
Fact Check:
The claim that Disha daily has published an article about a midnight meeting of Revanth Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu is False. The news clipping is fake.
When we searched for the news of Revanth Reddy meeting Chandrababu Naidu at midnight, we could not find any authentic news publication confirming the news.
However, we found a Facebook post stating that the management of Disha newspaper has declared that the news clipping is fake.
When we searched the epapers for the past few days, we could not find any such articles published in the Disha epaper.
When we observed the viral image carefully, we could see the last lines of the article above it. Upon searching the epaper published on November 15, 2023, we found the article with the title ‘KCR Pareshan’ last lines matched with the lines in the viral article. However, in the epaper, the article below ‘KCR Pareshan’ is completely different from that in the viral image which indicates that it is manipulated.
Disha Daily also clarified on its website that they had not published the viral article in their newspaper.
The clarification goes : ”Some political forces are circulating the clipping on social media deliberately to undermine the popularity of Disha and the credibility of the published news. The above news has not been published by Disha newspaper either in the regular edition or in the dynamic edition.”
Therefore, the screenshot showing an article published about the ‘Midnight meeting between TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and TPCC President Revanth Reddy’ is fake. The claim is False.
