  • FACT CHECK: Does This Image Shows Flock Of Birds In Kentucky That Died After The Train Derailed In Ohio? An image shared on social media allegedly shows a flock of birds that suddenly died in Kentucky following the recent train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. Verdict: False The caption is inaccurate. The image predates the recent train accident in Ohio. Fact Check: The state of Ohio has announced the opening of a health clinic in East Palestine after an increase in locals reporting symptoms ranging from rashes to trouble breathing, CNN reported. Federal officials from The Center for Diseases Control and Prevention will be on the ground to assess the possible dangers caused by the release of vinyl chloride, the outlet reported. The Facebook image purportedly shows dead birds in Kentucky, attributing the cause to the derailment in East Palestine. “Maybe we should be concerned with what’s going on In Ohio,” the caption reads. “These birds dropped de@d in Ky.” The caption is incorrect. A reverse image search revealed that the image stems from a Apr. 2018 local news story in Arkansas. There is no credible news report that suggests this image is related to the recent derailment in Ohio. The Arkansas Democrat Gazette published a story on a large number of birds that had died featuring the image used in the post. The article cites experts that suggested the birds had died from eating berries that fermented due to the volatile weather occurring in Little Rock at the time.
