  • Fact Check: Congress senior leader Digvijaya Singh did not resign from the Congress Fake letter surfaces online claiming Digvijaya Singh has announced resignation from the Congress party Claim :Digvijaya Singh announces resignation from the Congress party Fact :Digvijaya Singh has not released any statement on resigning from the Congress party. The letter is fake. Ahead of the 2023 Assembly Elections in Madhya Pradesh, a letter allegedly released by former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh announcing his resignation from the Congress party is viral on social media. The subject line of the letter loosely translates to, “Regarding resignation from primary membership of Congress.” It is being claimed that Digvijaya Singh decided to resign as he no longer wants to associate with a party that is leader-centric. FACT CHECK Digvijaya Singh denied the allegations about his resignation. Via X (formerly Twitter), he shared that he joined Congress in 1971 and that he intends to remain a Congress member until his last days. “I joined Congress not for the post but because I was influenced by the ideology and I will remain in the Congress till the last breath of my life.” He further mentioned that he would file a police complaint against this false information. · The Congress party accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Hitesh Vajpayee and alleged that he circulated the 'fake letter' and demanded a case to be registered against him. “In order to tarnish the image of former Chief Minister, BJP spokesperson Dr Hitech Vajpayee has forged a letter head from Digvijaya Singh’s twitter handle and forged his signature,” reads the statement. As per a report by news agency Press Trust of India (PTI), dated October 16, the Cyber police have registered an FIR against an unidentified person. Singh told PTI, "I am the favourite of the BJP and RSS. False statements against me, fake letters in my name and defaming me by editing my statements is their hobby. I have time and again lodged complaints with the MP cyber police, but they act as BJP’s agents.” Evidently, Digvijaya Singh has not released any statement on resigning from the Congress party. The letter is fake.
