  • Fact Check: Not 'Jihadists' attacking cop car, this is BBC drama series shooting The video shows the filming of the BBC crime drama series 'Bloodlands' in Northern Ireland in 2020. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check The video shows the filming of the BBC crime drama series ‘Bloodlands’ in Northern Ireland in 2020. A video making rounds on social media shows men attacking a police car with what appear to be Molotov cocktails. In the video, a burning man can be seen escaping the flaming police car. Those sharing the video claimed that "Jihadists” attacked this police vehicle in the UK. India Today Fact Check found that the video is behind-the-scenes footage from the BBC show being filmed in Northern Ireland in 2020. Our Probe A reverse search of keyframes from the viral video led to a news report containing similar images published by Irish news outlets like Belfast Live on January 30, 2020. The report titled, "Police car bursts into flames in Ballyclare ...but it's not what it seems,” noted that the video was captured in Ballyclare, Northern Ireland in 2020, and it showed the BBC crime drama series “Bloodlands” being filmed. The Irish Mirror also reported that the video was from the shoot of the show “Bloodlands” starring actor James Nesbitt. We compared the viral video with the photos in the news reports. The position of the burning police car is the same in both. We found the same “bomber” wearing a red jacket in both. And the wheel of a perambulator can be seen in those frames. The reverse search also led us to a video from January 2020 shared on the Facebook page “Love Bellyclare”. The video titled “BBC Bloodlands drama shooting today in Ballyclare” showed the same scene being filmed from a different angle. People can be seen watching the shoot in this clip. Its description reads, “Delighted to welcome James Nesbitt and the BBC to Ballyclare today. So excited to see behind the scenes of a top quality drama shoot.” Finally, we found this very scene in the February 2021 official trailer of the show on the BBC’s YouTube channel. We can see this scene play out around the 15-second mark. The red-jacketed bomber could also be seen in the trailer. Thus, it is safe to conclude that the video does not show a real incident in the UK at all. Please share it on our at 73 7000 7000 You can also send us an email at factcheck@intoday.com
