A clothing showroom was half submerged in the devastation caused by rain in the Borivali area of Mumbai. The viral claim turned out to be misleading in the investigation of Vishvas News. The viral picture is of a Raymond showroom in Patna. Which was almost half submerged due to heavy rains in September 2019. Which is now being shared by linking it with Mumbai. Claim: Facebook user Jose Rosario Francis DSouza (Rosario) shared this picture and wrote, “Heavy rains change Suits in Swimming suits.” The archive link of the post can be seen here. Investigation: We searched the photo through Google reverse image. We found this photo in a news article published on the website of Naidunia on 20 September 2019. According to the information, this photo is from Patna, Bihar. Due to heavy rains for several consecutive days in Patna, rain water entered Raymonds showroom at Hathua Market. Due to which many clothes kept in the showroom were damaged and the owner had to suffer heavy loss. Other pictures of the showroom can also be seen in the report. Several other websites also published this report. News 18 Bihar also tweeted this picture in the year 2019 and told it to be of Patna. We also found video reports related to the viral picture on many local YouTube news channels of Patna. Here also the same information was given about the picture. For more information, Vishvas News contacted Arvind Sharma, the state bureau chief of Dainik Jagran Bihar. He told us the viral claim is false. The viral picture is of a Raymond showroom in Patna. Which was almost half submerged due to heavy rains in September 2019. Vishvas News, in the final phase of the investigation, conducted a background check on the profile of Jose Rosario Francis DSouza (Rosario), who shared the viral post. We found that the user is followed by 43 people on Facebook and the user is a resident of Goa. Conclusion: In the investigation of Vishvas News, the claim about the flooded garment showroom turned out to be misleading. The viral picture is of a Raymond showroom from Patna. Which was almost half submerged due to heavy rains in September 2019.
