New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video is going viral on social media, in which a man can be seen brutally thrashing a girl child. It is being claimed in the video that this incident is from DPS School Rajbagh and the male teacher seen beating the girl in the video is Shakeel Ahmed Ansari. We found in our investigation that this claim is false. The name of the person in the video is Dinesh Sahu who is a pastor. The superstitious parents of the girl had the illusion that the girl was possessed by ghosts, due to which they brought her to this pastor.
What’s in the viral post?
In the viral video, a man can be seen brutally thrashing a girl child. The claim being made in the video is, “You should not miss any number and group on your WhatsApp, send this video to everyone, this is Shakeel Ahmed Ansari, teacher of DPS SCHOOL Rajbag, Valsad, share it so much that this teacher and school both be shut down Video going viral makes a lot of difference and action is taken, those who do not have mercy, keep their mouth (typing) shut.
Vishvas News also got this claim on its WhatsApp chatbot (+91 95992 99372) for a fact check.
Investigation
To investigate this video, we first put this video on Invid tool and extracted the keyframes of this video, and then searched them on Google reverse image. We found news on https://www.haribhoomi.com/ where the screenshots of the viral video were used. According to a report filed on February 10, 2018, “Translated: Sensation has spread due to the viral video of a pastor brutally thrashing a minor in the name of exorcism. Seeing the public outrage, the police arrested the accused from village Chhipi/Nagri.” According to the news, the incident is of Santoshi Nagar in Raipur where this pastor named Dinesh Sahu was arrested after this incident.
We also found this news on divyamarathi.bhaskar.com. According to this news also, the incident is from Raipur in 2018 where a pastor named Dinesh Sahu had beaten up this girl in the name of exorcism.
We talked to Sri Ramadhar, a senior reporter of Naiduniya working in Dhamtari, for confirmation in this regard. He said, “This incident happened in village Chhipli of Dhamtari. This case came to the light in February 2018. At that time the video had gone viral. Although no relatives had come forward in this case, due to which the police registered 151 cases against the accused. Clearly, it was not a case of beating in a school, but of superstition.”
The post was shared by a Facebook user named Mandeep Mandhan MandeepGohana. This user has a total of 4,835 followers. The user is a resident of Sonipat.
Conclusion: We found in our investigation that this claim is false. The name of the person present in the video is Dinesh Sahu who was a pastor. The superstitious parents of the girl had the illusion that the girl was possessed by ghosts, due to which they brought her to this priest.
