New Delhi Vishvas News: Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton recently switched to Ferrari from Mercedes. Now a picture of him signing some paperwork has gone viral with claims that this was his first day at Ferrari.
Vishvas News, in its investigation, found the viral claim misleading and this picture is AI-generated.
What Is In The Viral Post?
Facebook page, ‘Sir Lewis Hamilton Fans‘ shared the viral image on Feb 7, 2015, with the caption, “Lewis Hamilton’s first photo with Ferrari”
Investigation:
Upon closely examining the picture, we noticed a few discrepancies. For instance, the pinky finger on Lewis Hamilton’s left hand appeared slightly distorted. Additionally, the paper he was signing seemed blank.
Additionally, Hamilton has tattoos on both hands, which were absent in the viral image.
To verify further we analysed this picture through AI image detection tools.
Using the AI tool Hive Moderation, we found a 99.8% probability of the photo being AI-generated.
We further analysed the photo using another tool, SightEngine, which indicated a 72% probability of it being AI-created.
We also spoke to Dainik Jagran’s Sports Editor Abhishek Tripathi, who confirmed, “After officially becoming a Ferrari driver on New Year’s Day in 2025, Lewis Hamilton made his first visit to their renowned headquarters on January 20. He wore a black suit, but it differed from the viral image. For example, he had earrings on, which were not visible in the viral photo. Additionally, he was not wearing the pocket square that appeared in the viral image. Also, the style of the suit was different.”
We found several pictures of Lewis Hamilton’s visit to Ferrari’s headquarters, and the differences are quite noticeable.
Lastly, we reviewed the page ‘Sir Lewis Hamilton Fans’ that shared the viral post and found that the page has over 19 lakh followers.
Conclusion: A viral image claiming to show Lewis Hamilton’s first day at Ferrari was found to be AI-generated. Discrepancies like a distorted finger and blank paper raised suspicions. AI detection tools confirmed its artificial nature, and Hamilton’s visit to Ferrari on January 20, 2025, featured noticeable differences in his attire.
