  • Fact Check: Video showing Chandrababu Naidu getting angry makes a false claim BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leader Narendra Modi has taken oath as the Prime minister of India for the third time consecutively. BJP fell short of the majority. Claim :A viral video shows Chandrababu Naidu getting angry with the NDA leaders before the swearing-in ceremony of Modi Cabinet Fact :The viral video is an old one showing Naidu arguing with the YSRC leaders and walking out of the AP Assembly BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leader Narendra Modi has taken oath as the Prime minister of India for the third time consecutively. BJP fell short of the majority. Alliance partners Telugu Desam Party, BJP and Jana Sena together won 21 Lok Sabha seats, which is very significant for the formation of the government. Indian Prime Minister Modi also attended the swearing-in ceremony of Chandrababu Naidu as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on June 12, 2024. Both the oath-taking ceremonies were completed smoothly without any interruptions. Meanwhile, a video showing Chandrababu Naidu losing his temper, shouting in Telugu, and walking off the building is in circulation with the claim that he got angry with the leaders of the NDA before the swearing-in ceremony of the Modi government. The video is in circulation with the caption in Hindi which translates to “Naidu angry with the NDA alliance even before the oath”. In the video, we can hear him saying that if he is not allowed to even give a statement, there is no point in him staying there. And he will return back only after he becomes a Chief Minister. Fact Check: The claim is Misleading. The video is an old one. When we searched the keyframes extracted from the video and searched using Google reverse image search, we found that the viral video was shared for the last few days after his humongous win in the Assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh with captions like ‘చంద్రబాబు శపధం నెరవేరింది’. When translated, it means that the “vow taken by Chandrababu Naidu is fulfilled”. We found the viral video was shared by TV5 News on November 19, 2021, with the caption ‘UNSEEN VIDEO: TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu Challenge in Andhra Pradesh Assembly | TV5 News Digital’ It was also shared by V6 News Telugu YouTube channel with the caption ‘Chandrababu Naidu sensational decision in AP assembly’ on November 19, 2021. According to firstpost.com, Naidu alleged that the then-ruling YSRC party has been humiliating him continuously. The former Chief Minister vented his frustration following an acrimonious exchange of words between the two sides in the House during a short discussion on the farm sector. Later, he held an impromptu meeting with his party legislators in his chamber, where he reportedly broke down. The stunned TDP legislators consoled Chandrababu, after which they all came back into the House. Chandrababu then announced his decision, but that did not go on record, even as he left in a huff. Therefore, the viral video is from November, 2021 when Chandrababu Naidu was frustrated by the behavior of the ruling YSRCP leaders and walked out of the Assembly. It is not recent and has no relation to the NDA government. The claim is Misleading.
