In the original speech, Rahul Gandhi had said, “Narendra Modi is not becoming PM again.” - By: Pallavi Mishra - Published: May 15, 2024 at 03:37 PM New Delhi (Vishvas News) – An edited video clip of Rahul Gandhi is circulating widely on social media platforms, with claims that Rahul Gandhi allegedly said in his speech that Narendra Modi will become Prime Minister again. Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found it to be fake and the video is edited. In the original speech, Rahul Gandhi said, “Narendra Modi is not becoming the PM again.” What is going viral? On May 14, 2024, an Instagram handle ‘chindamjaganmohan’ (Archive Link) shared a video clip, featuring Rahul Gandhi in which he can be heard saying, “Translated: Narendra Modi will be the Prime Minister of India. At the outset, let me tell you what is true. Modi can become the Prime Minister of India again. Whatever work needed to be done, we have done it. Our alliance is not going to secure any seats. They also know that what Rahul Gandhi is saying is true. As they say in English, Good Bye, Thank You.” Investigation To investigate the viral post, we used Google reverse image search on a screenshot of this clip. We found that the clip is from a rally held by Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav on May 10 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. We found a 1-minute excerpt of this speech on the Times of India’s website. In this clip, Rahul Gandhi clearly says, “Translated: On June 4, 2024, Narendra Modi will no longer be the Prime Minister of India. Take it in writing. Narendra Modi ji cannot become the Prime Minister of India. Whatever was needed, we have done it. Now our alliance will secure at least 50 seats in Uttar Pradesh. The media belongs to Adani. Media people are our brothers. We love them, but they also need a salary. They have to raise children. They will not tell the truth. If you look at their faces now, they too are realizing what Rahul Gandhi is saying is correct, and Narendra Modi is not going to become Prime Minister. As they say in English, “Good Bye, Thank You.” Additionally, We found the original 1-minute clip uploaded on Daily Salar Digital’s YouTube channel on May 10, 2024, where Rahul Gandhi can be heard saying, “2024, June 4, Narendra Modi will no longer be the Prime Minister of India.” We found the complete speech of Rahul Gandhi’s Kanpur rally live-streamed on the official YouTube channel of the Indian National Congress on May 10, 2024. The edited part of the viral clip can be heard after 46 minutes into the stream. We reached out to Congress Communication In charge Pranab Jha, who confirmed, “Rahul Gandhi’s viral clip is edited. In the original video, he stated that Narendra Modi’s government will not form in the country on June 4, 2024.” The Instagram user ‘Chindam Jagan Mohan’ who posted the misleading video, has more than 7,000 followers.
