  • FACT CHECK: Did AOC Recently Remove Her Pronouns From Her X Bio? A viral post shared on X claims New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently removed her preferred pronouns from her bio on the platform. HOLY SHT AOC just took her pronouns OUT of her X bio. 🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/EO7D7ZfaH0 — American AF 🇺🇸 (@iAnonPatriot) November 14, 2024 Verdict: False An archived screenshot of Ocasio-Cortez’s X account shows her pronouns were not included in her bio as of June 2024. The last time pronouns were shown in Ocasio-Cortez’s bio on X was October 2023, according to another archived screenshot of her account. Fact Check: Voters who cast ballots for Ocasio-Cortez and President-elect Donald Trump said they voted for both candidates because they are political “outsiders” and not part of the establishment, according to Newsweek. Voters’ responses were prompted by a question from Ocasio-Cortez on Instagram asking her followers to explain why they voted the way they did, the outlet reported. The X post, which has been viewed over 50,000 times as of writing, claims Ocasio-Cortez recently removed her pronouns from her bio on X. “HOLY SH-T AOC just took her pronouns OUT of her X bio,” the post reads. The post includes two screenshots of Ocasio-Cortez’s bio on X. One includes her preferred pronouns, and the other doesn’t. The claim is false. An archived screenshot of Ocasio-Cortez’s X account shows her pronouns were not included in her bio as of June 2024. Two other screenshots show that her pronouns remained missing from X bio as of October 2024 and November 2024. In fact, the last time pronouns were shown in Ocasio-Cortez’s bio on X was October 2023. Likewise, Check Your Fact did not find the claim referenced on Ocasio-Cortez’s website or her verified social media accounts. In addition, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports suggesting the Democratic Congresswoman recently removed her preferred pronouns from her bio on X. Ocasio-Cortez previously apologized to her followers on Instagram after her pronouns were available, then “fell off” before she re-added them to her account, the New York Post reported in November 2022.
