  • A set of images showing actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with London-based businessman Vatche Manoukian is being shared on social media platforms. The claim: Those sharing wrote, "SHOCKING! Aishwarya Rai's Second Marriage to London Businessman Followed by Divorce from Abhishek Bachchan" The post also included a link to a website -"https://indianews24h.com/16d8" What we found: We checked both images separately and found the following: IMAGE 1: We ran a Google reverse image search on the image and came across a Vogue magazine article from September 2020. It carried the same image, however, featured the actress's husband, actor Abhishek Bachchan. The image dated back to 2016, showing their Diwali celebrations. The other image, showing, the two holding the hands in a folded manner is also from the same time as mentioned above. We found the original image on Filmfare's website. IMAGE 2: We ran a Yandex reverse image search on the image and came across an article by Variety from May 2014. It carried the same image, but, featured the actress's husband. The image was from the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala in 2014 which was attended by the couple. About the website: We checked the details about the website on "whois.com" and found that it was registered on 24 June in Reykjavik, Iceland. The link led us to an article about the celebrity couples and rumours about the strain on the relationship in the recent years. It noted nothing about the Rai-Bachchan's alleged second marriage, as claimed. About Vatche Manoukian: The London-based Armenian entrepreneur was in news in June when he entered the growing pool of prospective new owners at Everton Football Club by proposing a £400million all-equity offer, reported The Athletic. Currently, the club is owned by British-Iranian businessman Farhad Moshiri. The Quint has previously fact-checked edited visuals of the couple shared with false claims on social media. You can read those here and here. Conclusion: Edited visuals of the celebrity couple has gone viral as real on social media platforms.
