Listen to Story India Today Fact Check According to media reports from 2016, this video is from a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight flying from Jeddah to Addis Ababa in 2016, fact check, saudi airlines, saudi arabian flight A video showing unhygienic conditions inside a British Airways flight from Pakistan to London has been widely shared. The video shows toilet paper and water and trash strewn all over the aircraft cabin. India Today, in its investigation, found that the actual incident took place in 2016 and involved a Saudi Arabian Airlines aircraft flying from Jeddah to Addis Ababa. Our Probe With the help of a keyword search, we found several media reports about the incident from 2016. The same video was published in a Daily Mail report from September 2016, according to which, the video was filmed on a Saudi Arabian Airlines aircraft flying from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. Additional reports from Arab News and Gulf Business confirmed that the incident took place on September 7, 2016. They also included screenshots from the viral video. Arab News cited an unnamed source at the airline as saying most of the passengers on the aircraft were being deported back to Ethiopia, According to reports, the video went viral on social media at the time, creating an international outrage. Some of the media reports from 2016 also claimed the video was from Saudi Arabian Airlines' inaugural flight from Jeddah to Addis Ababa. However, citing aviation website Routes, a 2019 AFP report said that Saudi Arabian Airlines has operated services from Jeddah to Addis Ababa since at least 2008. In 2019, the same video resurfaced with misleading claims, suggesting it was from an Indian Airlines flight with Haj pilgrims. India Today fact-checked it at that time. Thus, it is evident that the video in question is not from a British Airways flight from Pakistan to London.
