  • Fact Check: Viral Claim About Mohan Bhagwat-Led RSS Supporting I.N.D.I.A Alliance Is Misleading Vishvas News concludes that the viral claim about Mohan Bhagwat-led RSS supporting the I.N.D.I.A alliance is misleading. The video actually shows a press conference organized by a different RSS, led by Janardhan Moon, which has no connection to Mohan Bhagwat’s RSS. - By: Pallavi Mishra - Published: Mar 29, 2024 at 05:03 PM New Delhi Vishvas News – A video circulating on social media suggests that Mohan Bhagwat, the leader of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), is endorsing the opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A. However, this claim is misleading. The video shows a press conference organised by an organisation called RSS, with the name prominently displayed in the background. Social media users are assuming this is the RSS, currently led by Mohan Bhagwat. Vishvas News investigated the claim and found it to be false. The press conference in the video was actually organised by a different organisation named RSS, led by Janardhan Moon. This group, established in 2017, is unrelated to the RSS led by Mohan Bhagwat. What’s Viral? A Facebook user named Pandit Mukesh Sharma posted a clip of the press conference on March 28, claiming that the RSS across the country is supporting the I.N.D.I.A alliance and calling for the overthrow of the Modi government. Investigation Vishvas News carefully analysed the video and noted that ‘Awaaz India’ was written in the top right corner. Further, research led to the YouTube channel of Awaaz India TV, where the full press conference was uploaded on March 24. The video was titled as a press conference organised in Nagpur by an organisation called RSS under Janardhan Moon’s leadership. The description of the post read, “Those who are wondering how RSS supported INDIA alliance. Let us tell them that there are two RSSs in the country. One is online REGISTERED, which has supported Congress and the other is UNREGISTERED whose Sarsanghchalak is Mohan Bhagwat, please keep in mind not to get confused. Nagpur; RSS gave unconditional support to INDIA Alliance.” Janardhan Moon attempted to register his RSS in 2017 but faced rejection from the Nagpur Charity Commissioner’s office and the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court. It’s important to note that this RSS has no affiliation with Mohan Bhagwat’s RSS. The official mouthpiece of the RSS, Organizer Weekly, denounced the video as “fake.” Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was founded in 1925 by KB Hedgewar, with Mohan Madhukar Bhagwat serving as the Sarsanghchalak since 2009. Delhi State RSS Executive Member Rajeev Tuli confirmed that the viral claim is false, stating that the RSS does not support the I.N.D.I.A alliance. The user who posted the viral claim, Pandit Mukesh Sharma, has around 5 thousand followers on Facebook and resides in Delhi. Conclusion: Vishvas News concludes that the viral claim about Mohan Bhagwat-led RSS supporting the I.N.D.I.A alliance is misleading. The video actually shows a press conference organized by a different RSS, led by Janardhan Moon, which has no connection to Mohan Bhagwat’s RSS. - Claim Review : RSS is supporting the I.N.D.I.A alliance - Claimed By : Facebook user Pandit Mukesh Sharma - Fact Check : Misleading Know the truth!
