Are Blue Bananas real?
Yes, they are. Blue bananas, popularly known as Blue Java Bananas, are hybrid of two different species of bananas – Musa balbisiana and Musa acuminata. They are majorly grown in South East Asia.
NOTE: Only the skin colour of the banana is blue. The flesh is always white. The unusual blue colour of the peel is due to the natural wax coating on the fruit. The blue colour tends to fade out as the banana ripens.
(In some photos on Facebook, the banana looks dark blue and the flesh also seems to have a bluish tinge. This could be due to camera filter or editing)
It is also true that these bananas reportedly taste like Vanilla ice cream.
There was also a false post shared in which a video asserts that seedless bananas are fake.
