  • Fact Check: No, cars are not melting in Saudi Arabia due to extreme temperature Facebook users are sharing a post showing melting cars claiming that the rising temperature has caused the cars to melt in Saudi Arabia. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check The picture is from Arizona where a fire melted around a dozen cars. A Facebook post showing two melted cars is going viral on the Internet which tries to suggest that they melted due to extreme temperature in Saudi Arabia. The post claims that temperature touched 52 degrees Celsius in Saudi Arabia on June 5. Many Facebook users have shared the picture that shows the melted back bumpers of two cars. India Today's Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found the claim to be misleading. The pictures are from Arizona in the United States where the cars melted due to a fire incident. The archived version of the post can be seen here. AFWA did a reverse image search and spotted an article in a local news website of Arizona. As per the report in "Tucson News Now," a fire broke out at a construction site near the University of Arizona on June 19, 2018. The fire damaged around a dozen cars parked nearby. Therefore, it is clear that it was not extreme heat in Saudi Arabia that melted the cars. Please share it on our at 73 7000 7000 You can also send us an email at factcheck@intoday.com
