Though Akhilesh did have his party cap on during the funeral, he did remove his shoes. His black socks have been mistaken for shoes.
The last rites of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav aka 'Netaji' was performed in Safai, Uttar Pradesh on October 11. Several social media users posted an image of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav with MP Jaya Bachchan, accusing Yadav of keeping his shoes on during his father's funeral.
People shared this image highlighting his cap, shoes, and sacred thread (janeyu), indicating that Akhilesh did not remove his shoes for his father's funeral rites. The frame captures Jaya Bachchan with her son Abhishek Bacchan and Akhilesh Yadav.
One Facebook user wrote that Akhilesh did not take off his party cap, coat or even his shoes and wore the janeyu over his existing outfit.

AFWA PROBE
A reverse search of the viral image led us to a photo gallery published by ABP News that carried pictures of eminent personalities who went to Safai to pay their respects to Mulayam Singh Yadav.
There, we came across the frame where Jaya Bachchan was seen with Akhilesh Yadav. The captions mentioned that the Bachhan family shared a warm relationship with the Yadav family and the actor and MP rushed to Safai to pay her last respects. However, Akhilesh's feet were not visible there.
Subsequently, we searched the Samajwadi Party's official Twitter handle and found several images from the funeral. There we found, the same photo but Akhilesh's right foot was barely visible. After zooming in, we could not get a glimpse of any shoes, but noticed a foot covered in black cloth that seemed like socks.
Another image taken within a time frame of a few minutes shows Akhilesh wearing a pair of black socks and no shoes.
The official handle of SP also had several images from Mulayam Yadav's funeral where Akhilesh is seen without a shoe during the funeral.
Therefore, Akhilesh did wear his party cap and coat during his father Mulayam Singh Yadav's funeral. However, he had no shoes on.
