It was originally published in a BBC article in 2007. Fact Check: The Biden administration learned of Ukraine’s plan to bomb the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline three months prior to the attack in September 2022, according to The Washington Post. The classified information was shared on the chat platform Discord by an Air National Guard member who has since been charged with leaking sensitive U.S. documents, Reuters reported. The Twitter post purports two British soldiers were killed by Russia while in Ukraine. The post shares a photo of three rows of U.K. flags draped over caskets in an aircraft. “REPORTS: Last night in Ukraine, two British soldiers killed by Russian Su-24 bombers which also annihilated their multi-million $ UK Storm Shadow missiles at Kropivnitskiy airfield,” the tweet reads. “A critically injured UK soldier was airlifted to Poland.” The Twitter user credits the information to a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) spokesperson. The photo is miscaptioned, however. The image actually stems from a BBC article published in 2007 about 14 military personnel killed after a RAF Nimrod aircraft crashed in Afghanistan. (RELATED: Image Of American Flags Draped Over Caskets Predates Russian-Ukrainian War) There are no credible news reports about two British soldiers being recently killed by Russian Su-24 bombers. Check Your Fact has reached out to NATO for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.
