  • The photo is genuine but was taken in 2020, not 2025. Around Feb. 25, 2025, a photo (archived) circulated online with users claiming it authentically showed a bus in Heidelberg, Germany, displaying a message reading "F*** Trump." The photo was captioned: "Buses in Heidelberg Germany yesterday." The photo, showing a bus with "F*** Trump!" written across its front display, circulated especially across Facebook, but also Threads (archived), on Feb. 23 (archived), Feb. 24 (archived) and Feb. 25, 2025, despite the photo caption indicating that the bus was spotted "yesterday." However, while the photo is authentic, it is not from February 2025. According to local news media in Heidelberg, the incident took place in November 2020, around the time Democratic contender Joe Biden won the U.S. presidential election, unseating the then-incumbent President Donald Trump. Therefore, we rate the 2025 instances of this claim as outdated. Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (RNV), the company that operated the bus seen in the photo, distanced (archived) themselves from the incident on Nov. 5, 2020, and said the text was displayed by a subcontractor. It was unclear at the time of this writing who took the original photo. RNV commented on the incident on Nov. 5, 2020, replying to a since-deleted post. Likewise, a local media report referred to a since-deleted post dated Nov. 4. That post was captioned "Clear message from Heidelberger Transport Company," so it may have included the photo. The U.S. held its 2020 presidential election on Nov. 3. In the Nov. 5 statement on X, RNV said: We, the rnv GmbH, distance ourselves quite firmly from this action. At no time do political comments or opinions on world views have any place on our vehicles. We have already spoken to our subcontractor to ensure that this does not happen again.
