Certainly not the 'Antim' truth The AFWA probe found the full video of this song shared by Salman Khan's verified YouTube channel on May 25, 2020, more than two years before the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which began on September 7. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This song was released in May 2020, two years before the Yatra. A member of Khan’s team confirmed that he did not dedicate the song to the Congress campaign. Has Bollywood actor Salman Khan publicly endorsed the Congress party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra? Many on social media seem to believe so. A video of Khan's song “Bhai Bhai”, where he talks about unity and syncretic harmony, is being widely shared online with the claim that the actor dedicated it to the Congress party campaign. It is noteworthy that Congress leaders Digvijaya Singh and Sanjay Nirupam tweeted the song’s music video on September 25 with the hashtag “Bharat Jodo Yatra”. Neither, however, claimed that Khan had dedicated the song to the campaign. #__ #BharatJodoYatra @INCIndia @Jairam_Ramesh @RahulGandhi pic.twitter.com/eyetbTwEsw — digvijaya singh (@digvijaya_28) September 25, 2022 AFWA found that this song was released in May 2020, two years before the Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. Moreover, there are no recent news reports that suggest the actor dedicated the song to the Congress campaign. The archived versions of such tweets can be seen here and here. AFWA PROBE We found the full video of this song shared by Khan’s verified YouTube channel on May 25, 2020, more than two years before the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which began on September 7. As part of the campaign, Rahul Gandhi and other members of the Congress party will journey from Kanyakumari to Jammu and Kashmir on foot, covering 12 states and 3,500 kilometres. When Khan released the song written by him and Danish Sabri in 2020, he said: "Since we couldn't release our film on this Eid, I have worked on a very special song for all my wonderful fans. It is called 'Bhai Bhai' as it celebrates the spirit of brotherhood and unity. Eid is the best day to release this as it is also the festival that brings people close to each other. I hope people enjoy the song as much as I did while making it for them.” We further went through Khan’s social media accounts but found no mention of the Congress campaign. Had Khan said something about Congress or the Yatra or dedicated this song to the party, it would’ve been all over the news. However, we did not find any news reports regarding this. AFWA reached out to a member of Salman Khan’s team, who requested not to be quoted but confirmed that the actor did not dedicate his song to the Congress party’s campaign.
