  • Recently, a video claiming that Indian military forces, along with heavy military equipment, are being deployed at the Bangladesh border has been circulated on social media. The video, reportedly filmed at a railway crossing, shows a train carrying Indian Army tanks. It is claimed that this tank-laden train is heading towards the Bangladesh border. Watch such videos shared on Facebook here (Archive), here (Archive), here (Archive), and here (Archive). Fact Check Upon investigation by the Rumor Scanner team, it was found that the claim of heavy military equipment and Indian Army troops being deployed at the Bangladesh border is incorrect. Instead, an old video from a separate incident in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, India, has been misrepresented to support this claim. During the investigation, a video was identified on a YouTube channel named Sachin Kumar, published on November 21, 2024 (Link to Video). Upon reviewing the video, similarities with the circulated video were observed. However, the video features text indicating it was filmed in “Muzaffarnagar.” Further investigation revealed a clearer version of the video published on Instagram on November 15, 2024, by a user with the username “fitness_pawan2” under the title “Hathiyar se lod train” (Instagram Post). At the end of the video, a signboard is visible on the opposite side of the railway crossing. Translating the text on the signboard revealed it said “Maa Ka Aashirwad Collection,” which translates to “Mother’s Blessing Collection” in English. Using the information “Muzaffarnagar” and “Maa Ka Aashirwad Collection,” further investigation on the Justdial website confirmed the existence of a store with this name near Dal Chand Market in Muzaffarnagar. (Source) Additionally, Google Maps (Source) shows a store with the same name in Gandhi Colony, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. A railway crossing is located roughly 600 meters from this store, further corroborating the video’s location. Upon reviewing Google Street View, it was observed that the houses near the railway crossing, the black-and-white height bars or gates, electric poles, signal posts, and billboard advertisements match the details in the video. However, as the Street View image was captured in July 2023, the billboard displays a different advertisement. Analyzing the train’s trajectory in the video reveals that it is traveling from right to left. Reviewing the area’s map indicates that the train is traveling northward from central India, with its next likely stop being Saharanpur, another district in Uttar Pradesh situated between Uttarakhand and Haryana. Furthermore, analyzing India’s map confirms that the country’s northern border does not connect with Bangladesh but rather with China and Pakistan. Moreover, keyword searches across local and Indian media sources yielded no reports regarding the deployment of additional Indian troops at the Bangladesh border. Conclusion The claim that Indian military forces have been deployed with heavy equipment along the Bangladesh border is completely false.
