  • FACT CHECK: Did The NFL Tell Kaepernick To Sell Hair Products Instead Of Playing Football? A post shared on social media purports that the National Football League has denied former quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s request for active status and told him to sell hair products instead. Verdict: False The claim is inaccurate. The claim stems from a satirical website. Fact Check: After Aaron Rodgers went out of Monday Night’s game against the Bill due to an injury several replacement Quarterbacks have been floated, Fox News reported. Pundit Jemele Hill has suggested Kaepernick as a possible replacement for Rodgers. The Facebook post purports Kaepernick was snubbed by the NFL and told to get a different career. The post shares an image of Kaepernick kneeling with the bottom portion cut off. The caption reads, “NFL Refuses Kaepernick’s Request for Active Status: ‘He Should Sell Hair Products’ Continue reading below first comment..” The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests the NFL officials told him this. The claim stems from an article on a website called the Dunning-Kruger Times. The website self identifies as parody. The about section features a disclaimer that says, “Dunning-Kruger-Times.com is a subsidiary of the “America’s Last Line of Defense” network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery.” Reports have indicated that Kaepernick does want to resume his football career in the NFL. USA Today reported that he “absolutely” wants to play in the NFL. He is even willing to take a backup role on a team in order to be signed.
