Viral claim absolutely FALSE AFWA found that the viral footage is not recent at all. It shows an explosion that occurred in Turkey in 2016. AFWA RROBE One can see “19/03/2016” written towards the end of the viral video. This hinted at the fact that this video may be from 2016. On reverse searching the keyframes of the video, we found it in a March 2016 report published in the Turkish news website “Milliyet”. Upon comparing the viral video with the one in the report, one can easily see their similarities. According to this report, the footage shows a suicide bomber who had caused an explosion in the Taksim Square area of Istanbul on March 19, 2016. Other Turkish news portals like “Diken”, “Cumhuriyet” and “Haberturk” had also carried grabs from this video in their reports about the incident.
