  • FACT CHECK: Did Anthony Bourdain Send This Tweet Saying He Had Information That Would Lead To Hillary Clinton’s Arrest? A post shared on Facebook purportedly shows a tweet from late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain saying he had information that would lead to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s arrest. Verdict: False There is no record of Bourdain sending the tweet. It appears to be fabricated. Fact Check: Bourdain, known for hosting the series “No Reservations” and “Parts Unknown,” died on June 8, 2018, by suicide, CNN reported. The July 27 Facebook post shows what appears to be a June 5, 2018, tweet from Bourdain that reads: “I have information that will lead to the arrest of Hillary Clinton.” Additional text in the image says, “I still wonder why Anthony Bourdain committed suicide…” This is seemingly in reference to the baseless conspiracy theory that Bourdain was killed by Clinton operatives. There is, however, no evidence Bourdain sent the tweet shown in the Facebook post. Check Your Fact searched Bourdain’s verified Twitter account, but found no instance of a tweet saying he had evidence that would send Clinton to jail. An archived screen grab of his Twitter page from June 8, 2018, likewise does not show such a tweet. Had the chef said days before his death that he had information that could lead to Clinton’s arrest, media outlets likely would have reported on it, yet none have. (RELATED: Did Anthony Bourdain Tweet About Eating Bat Soup In Wuhan In 2018?) Bourdain has previously sent tweets about Clinton in October 2017 in response to an interview she gave with CNN about the sexual assault allegations against former movie producer Harvey Weinstein, but none of those tweets called for her arrest. In fact, in one tweet he said he liked and admired Clinton, and in another he said she was “CLEARLY not responsible” for anything related to the Weinstein accusations.
