No, that's not true: In the authentic Joe Rogan recording featuring Peterson, the Canadian psychologist does not mention Antarctica. AI detection tool True Media found substantial evidence the audio in the post was generated by AI. Lead Stories has previously fact checked similar fake audio recordings of Peterson on Rogan's podcast passed off as real. The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on Facebook on November 15, 2024. The text overlay said: Antarctica THEORY EXPOSED #jordanpeterson #joeroganpodcast #shorts This is what the post looked like on Facebook at the time of writing: (Source: Facebook screenshot taken on Tue Nov 19 18:16:22 2024 UTC) The fake recording used Jordan Peterson's appearance on Episode #1070 of "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast. This is discernible from the black jacket and yellow shirt he is wearing, which is different from his outfits for his eight other appearances on the podcast: #877, #958, #1006, #1139, #1208, #1769, #1933 and #2180. A search of the YouTube account for the podcast using Peterson's name shows he appeared on these nine episodes. In the authentic recording, Peterson does not discuss Antarctica. Searching the YouTube transcript, words used by the claim such as "Antarctica," "emperor penguins," "wildlife" and "Remi Warren" are not found. Lead Stories also listened to the episode; the purported discussion on Antarctica did not happen.
