| - A video shwoing a convoy of several cars and two-wheelers is going viral on social media to claim that it shows the Indian government safely escorting Bangladesh's former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, from Delhi to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
Hasina fled from Bangladesh to India on 5 August 2024 following the anti-government protests in the country.
How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on some of the keyframes of the video on Google which led us to an old video shared on YouTube.
This was shared by a channel called 'NEWS AGRADOOT' on 7 March 2023.
We could not find the exact date and time when this viral video was recorded.
However, the oldest version is from 2023, which predates the Bangladesh protests that started in June 2024 and also predates Hasnia fleeing to India in August 2024.
In this clearer version of the same video, we noticed that number plates on all the cars where registered in Chhattisgarh (CG).
At the 0:27 timestamp, we saw a white Toyota Innova Crysta with a registration number and a board saying, "S.D.M. CG12BA7711".
We checked the number plate registration on Parivahan Sewa, the official website of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
Here we found out that the car was registered in Korba City, District Transport Office (DTO) in Chhattisgarh.
Moreover, we did not find any credible reports of Hasina being escorted to Prayagraj recently.
Conclusion: An old video of a convoy is going viral to falsely claim that it shows Sheikh Hasina being escorted from Delhi to Prayagraj recently.
