  • FACT CHECK: Tweet Allegedly From Jack Smith Is From Parody Account A post shared on social media is purportedly a tweet from Special Counsel Jack Smith claiming that presidential immunity will not save former President Donald Trump. Presidential immunity isn’t going to save him. If you’re out there threatening to harm judges and anyone who dares to hold him accountable for his actions, your days are numbered too. America is done with your extremist crap. — Jack E. Smith ⚖️ (@7Veritas4) December 27, 2023 Verdict: False The claim is inaccurate. Smith did not make this tweet. Fact Check: Colorado Supreme Court decision to bar Trump from 2024 ballot has been appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, The Associated Press reported. The Colorado Republican Party has filed the appeal as well as Trump’s own legal team and the court is expected to take the case. An X account named Jack E. Smith with a profile photo of Smith made a tweet in regards to the ongoing Trump trial. The profile picture shows Smith in a suit slightly turned with a black and grey pencil effect and the name includes a scale. The post reads, “Presidential immunity isn’t going to save him. If you’re out there threatening to harm judges and anyone who dares to hold him accountable for his actions, your days are numbered too. America is done with your extremist crap.” The post is not from Smith’s genuine account. A spokesperson for the U.S. The Department of Justice told Reuters, “I can confirm that the account is not an official Department of Justice account and not connected to the Special Counsel’s Office in any way.” Many Twitter users appeared to have taken the tweet seriously despite the account’s bio self-identifying as parody. The bio reads, “‘Whatever you are, be a good one’. Here for people, politics and parody.” Furthermore, the middle initial on the account does not match Smith real middle name which is Luman. (Did Donald Trump Deliver A Bigger Tax Cut Than Ronald Reagan?) This is not the first piece of misinformation that has been shared online. Check Your Fact debunked a claim that a video shows protestors chanting “we want Trump” during a Biden rally.
