  • Fact Check: Slogans were not chanted against Modi after he filed nomination from Varanasi The political landscape in the country is intensifying. Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United (JDU) have become pivotal figures in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and are demanding significant positions in the Union Cabinet. Claim :Public chant slogans against Modi after he filed nomination in Varanasi Fact :In the original audio, the chants were slogans in favor of BJP and Narendra Modi The political landscape in the country is intensifying. Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United (JDU) have become pivotal figures in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and are demanding significant positions in the Union Cabinet. However, the BJP is unlikely to easily give up some of the crucial portfolios to its allies and has reportedly claimed key ministries such as defence, finance, home, and foreign affairs for itself. Amidst this, a video has been circulating on social media, showing BJP leader Narendra Modi walking with Amit Shah, J.P. Nadda, Yogi Adityanath, and several party workers as they exit the district magistrate’s office in Varanasi. The video’s audio contains an objectionable slogan, and there is also overlay text using abusive language. Social media users shared it with a Hindi caption “वाराणसी से ये क्या देखने कों मिला रहा है” When translated to English, it reads: “What are we seeing from Varanasi” Fact Check: We found the claim is False. The audio was added to the viral clip. In the original clip, the workers were chanting slogans in support of Modi. During the reverse image search, we found that the same video was uploaded on May 14, 2024, in the live stream section of News18 UP Uttarakhand's official YouTube page. The video was uploaded with the caption “Narendra Modi Nomination Live from Varanasi.” At exact 4:01 timestamp, we found the same DM Varanasi office gate as seen in the viral video. Also, at the 8:34 timestamp, we found Narendra Modi with the same group walking out from the DM office in Varanasi. We also found the same clip uploaded during the live stream on the same date as mentioned above on India Today's official YouTube channel with the caption: “In Mega Show of Strength, PM Modi Together With NDA Leaders In Varanasi.” At exact 0:18 timestamp, we found the same portion of the viral clip from a different angle. We also found the same clip uploaded during the live stream on the same date as mentioned above on India Today's official YouTube channel with the caption “In Mega Show of Strength, PM Modi Together With NDA Leaders In Varanasi.” At the exact 0:18 timestamp, we found the same portion of the viral clip from a different angle. Furthermore, we found on May 14, 2024, the same video was uploaded on Narendra Modi official YouTube Channel with a caption: “PM Modi along with NDA leaders greets public after filing nomination from Kashi.” None of the above videos contained any objectionable slogans or abusive language. Hence, it is proved that the audio was replaced on the original one and shared on social media. In the original video, the party workers or public were chanting slogans in favor of BJP and Narendra Modi.
