A picture of Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is viral on social media with a claim that he went to offer chadar at the Haji Ali Dargah post recovery from Covid. Vishvas News investigation revealed the claim being is fake. Bachchan’s old picture captured on his trip to Ajmer Sharif in 2011 is now viral with false claims. Claim Facebook user Rohit Jaiswal Sujit shared a picture of Amitabh Bachchan where he is seen in the middle of a huge crowd with a cap on his head. The post reads, “When he was infected with coronavirus, temples held prayers…seeking his well-being. Now that he is healthy, he visited Haji Ali Dargah and donated chadar…” The archive version of the post can be viewed here . Investigation To investigate the post, we first searched the image on Google reverse image. We found a news report from India Today published on July 4, 2011 that clarified that Amitabh Bachchan arrived at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah. In the photo gallery, we saw the same picture of Amitabh Bachchan, which is going viral recently with the false claim that he is in Haji Ali Dargah. We searched on the Internet for news by entering keywords and we found a video uploaded on 6 July 2011 on ‘Zoom’ YouTube channel that reports on Bollywood. We could confirm that this is a video of the same tour, which is now viral with fake claims. For further clarifications we decided to find if Bachchan visited Haji Ali Dargah after recovering from coronavirus. We did not find any such news from authentic sources that said about his visit to Haji Ali Dargah post covid-19 recovery. We contacted our colleague and Chief Correspondent for Bollywood Smita Srivastava in Dainik Jagran to verify the claim. “This picture of Amitabh Bachchan is not from any recent event. The viral claim is completely fake,” Srivastava said. Social scanning of Facebook user Rohit Jaiswal Sujit, who shared the post with fake claims, revealed that he is from Delhi.
